PROGRAMMABLE TABLE SAW WITH ADJUSTABLE SPEED, BLADE ANGLE, CUTTING DEPTH AND AUTO SHUT OFF

Work on cutting timber could be described as the first and foremost operation in wood-based industry before going to the next operation. From past to present this cutting machine had experienced a lot of upgrading process, mainly for the purpose of facilitating and speeding up manufacturing operations.

To further improve the cutting machine in terms of accuracy, flexibility and performance, technology of microcontroller was incorporated in the system controller of a targeted machine ‘Table Saw’. Several approaches have been taken in the design and development course of this project, and the prototype model was successfully has its own control system.

PIC18F452 microcontroller was used to automatically control the input and output devices, and there are several other major components such as monolithic integrated circuit L298N that used to drive inductive load, SK40C Start-Up Kit, Temperature sensor (LM35 DZ) and Medium range infrared sensor (IR01A).

From the investigation and observation regarding to the machine performance and respond ability, the results obtained show a good feedback. In conjunction to that fact, it makes this controller system has a great potential for being adapted to the table saw like-machine and the study over this research worthwhile to be further continue.
